Perth Soccer Club is one of the leading premier league football clubs in Western Australia. It was formed in 1987 as a result of a decision by the two clubs that dominated local football at the time, Perth Azzurri and East Fremantle Tricolore, together with a fast growing Balcatta Etna, to form a super club called Perth Italia Soccer Club. The new Club’s mission was to dominate local football competitions and become a springboard for a team in the national competition.

The new Club adopted Dorrien Gardens as its home, a place already renowned for quality football as it was the home of Perth Azzurri. On the site the Club built magnificent new facilities. True to plan, the Club quickly proved itself as a force in local football, becoming premiers for 5 consecutive years (1989 to 1993).

In 1994 the Perth Kangaroos represented Western Australia in the SingaporePremier League, recruiting nine of the Club’s best players, the coach and the assistant coach. This team finished the season undefeated and easily won the Singapore league title. Most of these members joined the first Perth Glory squad which was formed to enter the Australian National Soccer League in 1995. Perth Italia had fulfilled its objective by being the major supplier of players and coaches for this
Western Australian team.

In 1995, to broaden its appeal, members overwhelmingly voted to drop “Italia” from its name. Its Italian roots rest in the history of its glorious past.

After losing its quality players, the Club struggled in the years 1994 to 1999. However, in 2000 its recovery was well under way. The league team finished third. Grand extensions to its facilities were built. The leaders in local football were back!



Since 2000, the Club has dominated the local premier league winning 3 premiership, 8 Champion of Champions, 8 night series and 2 Boral Cups. The Club is the leading developer of young talent in the state.
